Our Approach

Tremendous benefits can be achieved through regular massage therapy treatments from a Registered Massage Therapist. Whether your need is to have a moment of relaxation, reduce muscle tension or attain relief from chronic pain, a therapeutic massage can enhance your overall sense of emotional and physical well-being as well as your quality of life.

Massage therapy benefits people of all ages. While it benefits the injured, the ill and the stressed, the strength of massage therapy in preventing illness and conditions before they develop cannot be overlooked.

At Joint Reaction Health Center we believe in a combined or “Team approach”! Massage therapy here is not an afterthought but rather an important part of the solution, where your physiotherapist and massage therapist collaborate to provide the optimal treatment plan to ensure you attain your ultimate goal of health and wellbeing.

Pregnancy Massage

Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health. Massage therapy addresses different needs through varying techniques, one of which is called Swedish Massage, which aims to relax muscle tension and improve lymphatic and blood circulation through mild pressure applied to the muscle groups of the body. Swedish Massage is the recommended prenatal massage method during pregnancy because it addresses many common discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormone shifts during pregnancy.

Manual Therapy

Here at Joint Reaction Health Center , your massage therapist will go through a series of tests, and explain their significance to your problem. These assessment findings will be integrated into the treatment program and a decision on whether or not you will require “hands on” therapy will be made. This “hands on” therapy is better known in the massage world as manual therapy.

It is this manual therapy and the use of more “hands on” work that is the core of our practice and will ensure you get back to your optimal health and wellness.

Massage FAQs

Is Massage Therapy covered by OHIP?
Massage Therapy is not covered by OHIP, however it is covered by almost all extended health care plans.
Do I Need a Doctor's Referral?
You do not require a doctor's referral to be treated by a massage therapist. If you have an extended health care plan however, your insurer may require a doctor's referral in order to reimburse you for massage therapy treatments. This is why it may be a good idea to get a referral before you submit your claim for reimbursement.
How Long will my Visits Take?
Your initial massage appointment will be 1 hour in length and subsequent appointments will be either 30, 60, or 90 minutes in length with the corresponding charge associated to the length of treatment.
